The LITE laser transmitter, the most powerful civilian laser ever flown in space, consists of two identical flashlamp-pumped, q-switched Nd:YAG lasers operating at a wavelength of um and a pulse width of 30 nanoseconds with each pulsecapable of generating greater than J per pulse at a rate of 10Hz.
